SWSI & Technical Resources

In 2003, the Colorado legislature recognized the critical need to understand and better prepare for our long-term water needs, and authorized the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) to implement the Statewide Water Supply Initiative (SWSI). The overall objective of SWSI is to help Colorado maintain an adequate water supply for its citizens and the environment. CWCB has completed the first phase of the project which developed a report and its contents are provided below. This report developed a number of findings and recommendations which are being explored further as part of SWSI Phase II. The focus of SWSI Phase II was to begin to explore water management and development options that could be used to meet future water needs. This effort included evaluating: water conservation and efficiency, agricultural and urban partnerships, environmental and recreational needs, and development of water supply alternatives to meet the gap between current supplies and future needs. SWSI information (both Phases) is available through Water Resource Information Center. Use the Search available on this page for quick retrieval of archived items. The Search has been configured to search SWSI Phase I information. Once in the Water Resource Information Center (through WebLink), SWSI Phase II information can be searched by using the SWSI II Technical Roundtables template.
(Includes presentations from various technical roundtable stakeholder meetings)
