Thirty-two municipalities in the greater Denver
area make up the Metro Mayors Caucus. Twenty-seven of these jurisdictions
signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Water Conservation and Stewardship
on January 22, 2005, pledging to “…use our best efforts
to identify and adopt, or urge the water utilities that serve us to
adopt, best management practices that achieve efficient water use
through conservation, reuse, and/or new technologies.” The following
BMPs were compiled by municipal staff, water providers, landscape
and irrigation contractors, environmental consultants and others working
through the Metro Mayors Caucus and the Colorado WaterWise Council,
and were adopted by the Metro Mayors Caucus on [date] 2005. These
voluntary BMPs are intended to serve as a resource document or “menu”
of options for water providers.
